Austin Auto Insurance Company Directory (Best Agents in Austin)
By: J.D. Triplett, Researcher
A great list of Austin’s auto insurance agents is pretty hard to find on the internet. Amazingly though, I was happy to find lots of raw research on the Texas gov. site (http://www.tdi.state.tx.us/consumer/auto.html
). I organized all this raw information into a quick reference for all Austinite drivers.
Hot Tip: You may check out the original list at the TX gov. site yourself: Click Here
This smart list of national & local agents that operate in Austin (TX) helps Austinites in Beaumont (or any other local county) to easily find great agents in town.

Hot Tip:: The most important thing that you need to take note of is the Avg. Policy Price, as this gives you a general idea of the Austin insurance company’s pricing structure (avg. price for Austinites).
Hot Tip:: You may also take note of the Complaint Index, which is a measure of customer complaints (by Austinites) concerning un-honored policy payouts; However, this factor is not that important because I removed any Austinite agents with high complaint levels (i.e. unscrupulous agents).

Avg. Policy Price (for Austin):
1. This is the quoted avg. price for an Austinite Median Driver (avg. household income $43,731 a year).
2. A median driver (Austinite) is defined as a Male or Female, aged 35 or higher, with any marital status, no tickets or accidents, and driving a normal consumer brand such as Nissan.
3. Your Price may vary depending on your specific situation, such as if you drive a 1999 Nissan Sentra or another model).
4. This price range gives you a general idea of a companies’ prices (such as AIG).
Complaint Index (by Austinites):
1. Gives you an idea of how many complaints (from Austinites) the company received for un-honored policies, in the state of Texas.
2. Amazingly, the lower the number, the better (the more great a company is).
3. A score of 1 is average, so anything below 1 is below avg., and above 1 is above average (i.e. great).
4. Remember, that I removed any Austin companies that had high complaint averages (i.e. unscrupulous agencies).
5. Based on the number of complaints (by Austinites) per existing policies, this average was taken from the Texas Dept. of Insurance.
The odds of you getting sued as the result of an auto accident are MUCH higher than the odds of your house burning down. Consider that the next time you are out insurance shopping.
Low Financial Rating (for Austin). Did not have an ‘A’ - level Financial Rating from A.M. Best (which is unscrupulous). Phil from Progressive, our local agent contact, stated that: “An ‘A’ financial rating ensures that the company (such as AIG) will have enough money to stay in business and pay your claim.
High Complaint Level (by Austinites). Had an above average Complaint Level, based on Texas Dept. of Insurance statistics for the past 2 years (unscrupulous record). A high Complaint Level may mean a company has a history of not honoring policy claims (from Austinites) as promised in their contract with Austin drivers.
