).  I organized all this raw information into a fast reference for all Houstonite drivers.

Awesome Fact:: The most important thing that you need to take note of is the Avg. Policy Price, as this gives you a general idea of the Houston insurance company’s pricing structure (avg. price for Houstonites).

1. This is the quoted avg. price for an Houstonite Median Driver (avg. household income $36,894 a year).
2. A median driver (Houstonite) is defined as a Male or Female, aged 35 or higher, with any marital status, no tickets or accidents, and driving a normal consumer brand such as Volkswagen.
3. Your Price may vary depending on your specific situation, such as if you drive a 2007 Volkswagen Eos or another model).
4. This price range gives you a general idea of a companies’ prices (such as GEICO).

Complaint Index (by Houstonites):
1. Gives you an idea of how many complaints (from Houstonites) the company received for un-honored policies, in the state of Texas.
2. Riveting as it may seem, the lower the number, the better (the more fantastic a company is).
3. A score of 1 is average, so anything below 1 is below avg., and above 1 is above average (i.e. fantastic).
4. Remember, that I removed any Houston companies that had high complaint averages (i.e. crafty agencies).
5. Based on the number of complaints (by Houstonites) per existing policies, this average was taken from the Texas Dept. of Insurance.

Low Financial Rating (for Houston). Did not have an ‘A’ - level Financial Rating from A.M. Best (which is crafty). Todd from Southern Farm Casualty, our local agent contact, stated that: “An ‘A’ financial rating ensures that the company (such as GEICO) will have enough money to stay in business and pay your claim.

High Complaint Level (by Houstonites). Had an above average Complaint Level, based on Texas Dept. of Insurance statistics for the past 2 years (crafty record). A high Complaint Level may mean a company has a history of not honoring policy claims (from Houstonites) as promised in their contract with Houston drivers.
